Saturday Night at the USO

The Museum of the Albemarle, to raise funds for the museum, put on a 1940's style USO dance many people wore period clothing in which they danced and socialized to the big brass band sounds of "The Top Hats". Many of our members from Chapter 6102 were there. Check out pictures taken by the Daily Advance;

Everyone had a great time at our dance last Friday night. We would like to thank George White for the lesson he taught, we learned a beautiful circle waltz that was fun for all. We would also like to thank all who came you are what made the dance such an enjoyable evening.

If a USA Dance member brings a non-member guest to our Sept. 4th dance at the Pines we will give the member a free pass to the Oct dance. You will need to show your membership card if you are coming from another USA Dance chapter.

To celebrate the twentieth anniversary of National Ballroom Dance Week, we will hold a dance at Southgate Mall in Elizabeth City, on Sept 19th 6:30pm to 9pm. We are inviting all ballroom dance clubs in the area to participate. There will be no fee for the dance but we ask that food and drink be purchased from vendors in the Mall, to patronize the Mall stores and show our appreciation. The food vendors are; Brianna’s Hot Subs & Mexican Grill and Dragon Buffet Asian and American style food.

We also have the main stage at the Waterfront market on September 26th 9am to 1pm we are looking for enough dancers join us though out the day so there is dancing going on the whole time by different couples.

The purpose of the demonstration is for promoting Ballroom Dancing in our community. We are looking for enough Dancers to have a rotation so the demonstration is not an all day event for the few.  Please let us know if you can join us and what time frame you can be there and we will make up a time schedule.

We are looking for people with contacts with local businesses to procure door prizes; we will put their business in the program as a sponsor of USA Dance, if you would like to donate an item that would be appreciated as well. It is early enough to entertain suggestions about ideas you have to make the dance a great experience, please be forthright. Send your suggestion to us.
